10-week research-intensive summer training program to advanced non-MIT sophomore and junior science majors who have an interest in a research career.

Who Should Apply

Non-MIT undergraduates who meet the following requirements are eligible:

  • Full-time undergraduate students at a U.S. university or college
  • Current sophomores, juniors, or non-graduating seniors
  • Successfully completed introductory courses in the life sciences
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 in all STEM courses
  • Demonstrated interest in basic research and in a career in the sciences
  • Must provide all transcripts
  • Available to begin on June 2, the first day of program, no exceptions

Program Details

June 1 – August 7, 2020

  • Practical training in one of over 90 research laboratories affiliated with the Department of Biology, the Department of Brain & Cognitive Sciences, or the Department of Biological Engineering
  • Weekly academic seminars
  • Weekly meetings with faculty
  • Extracurricular activities
  • Includes housing, a domestic travel stipend, weekly living stipend
